Welcome to Cowgirls & Cocktails!
There is nothing like a breast cancer diagnosis and a strong dose of chemotherapy to make you feel like your world is spinning out of control. As a Type-A, “fingers on the pulse of the community” type of gal, I was not ready to give into uncertainty, weakness and life altering changes. So, on a spring day in 2008, my mind and body functioning solely on heart, I reached out to friends, asking how I could concentrate on something bigger than me. Ideas flew and the Cowgirls & Cocktails fundraiser was born, with the hope of helping women with breast cancer in El Paso County.
Fast forward three short years. With amazing and dedicated volunteers, hundreds of friends, great bartenders, national cocktail sponsors, caterers, local vendors and the press, we are now celebrating our successes! We have raised over $50,000, donating to different organizations who reach women on a grassroots level. We’ve assisted with everything from taxi vouchers, to providing much needed goody boxes filled with products to aid in the surgical healing process, to funding Survivorship programs. Last year, we purchased post surgical camisoles for every patient receiving breast surgery at Evans Army Hospital at Ft. Carson.
We are touching those in need on a very basic level.
Cowgirls & Cocktails speaks to my heart and lives up to its original vision. Women joining together to support one another is a powerful statement, especially when they all wear pink and they all like to have fun! Each of is lucky to have one another, so this party is a celebration of life at its best.
Our 2011 event is Thursday, June 2nd. Please join us for the party, as well as supporting the cause with anything you can share. We have a fabulous auction, as well as a balloon sale. Your donations will help so many women cope with the devastating changes that come with a cancer diagnosis. This is truly an opportunity to touch those in crisis.
